Blunderbuss Survival Horror (Oscillating Brow)
A failed 24-minute comic which needed finishing after the meeting. The words were 'blunderbuss' and 'survival horror'.

BMX Jester (Paul Thompson)
Based on word association on facebook, a 24 minute* comic in which I try not to draw horror. Yup, I'm nicking facial elements from Oscillating Brow - that's the best way I can think of to start to learn how to do the comic minimalism funny.
*not technically within the rules as I was thinking of ideas while I was cooking and facebook was making words. Drawn in 24 minutes. Whaddaya want?

We'll get through them all soon. Is it just me or are these 24 minute comics gradually getting more surreal?

Wolves Love Triangle - 24 Minute Comic! (Terry Wiley)
Another comic from our latest 24 minute escapades. To be honest with words like wolves and love triangle there was no way these comics were going to be anything but slightly wrong and twisted.
Sorry I've been a little slow in uploading these guys, more to come very soon.

Made In Newcastle (UNKNOWN!)
We took some comic templates to the Made In Newcastle launch earlier this month (you should check out the Made In Newcastle shop on Nun Street, Newcastle, it's fantastic!) and while we were drawing on their walls, some folks, I'm not sure who they were, drew comics and left them behind for us!
Lovely!
Also, in case you missed it, the launch of our new Art... and that anthology is in Durham, tonight, if you're reading this on the 23rd of July 2010...

Wolves Love Triangle - 24 Minute Comic! (SIMON CAVANAGH)
Hello miscreants!
During our last meeting we sat down to do a 24 minute comic, if you're following this blog I'm sure you're familiar with the concept by now... and the resulting confusion/artistic euphoria.
So, what did we get out of wolves and love triangle?

So, what did we get out of wolves and love triangle?
I don't know why but the moons face almost made me feel sorry for it.
Rather than bombard you with everything at once I shall put the rest up in a gradual trip feed to keep you peaceful.
-Britt.

Meet the CAPTIONeers
Jay Eales and Selina Lock, two of the tip-top organisers of CAPTION*, will be in town this weekend, so if anyone would like to come and meet them & discover the wonderful world of Caption, there'll be a Mini Meet in the Bridge pub on Monday 12th at 7.30pm.
*CAPTION is the UK's longest running comics event (this is its 19th year) and a key point in the Small Press Comics calendar. It's held in the East Oxford Community Centre on the weekend of the 31st July-1st August (this year's theme is "Mad Science") & features panels, workshops, sketch pads, at least one quiz, a bar, exhibits, an auction and - ta-daa - the Caption Table, where creators can leave their comics and mingle while somebody else sells them for you!
Did I mention Melinda Gebbie is a guest?

COCK AND BALLS BALLOONS (ANDREW WAUGH)
The selections "cock and balls" and "balloons" were also pulled out of the hat during the last 24-minute comic selection, but everyone went for "cats" and "finger puppets" or "coffee" and "communists". Losers.
Here's my crack at some genital-based comic fun. Now with added colour. Enjoy.

COFFEE AND COMMUNIST CATS (AND THE X-MEN) (MIKE THOMPSON)
Mike Thompson, one part of our glorious two-headed Leaderbeast, did this 24-comic that manages to cram in "cats", "communist" and "coffee", as well as everyone's favourite boarding school mutants.
And as if this wasn't enough, he also did me this lovely drawing of Frank Castle, The Punisher. I don't know if that was his idea of a sexual advance, but it worked.

CATS AND FINGER PUPPETS (VARIOUS)
There's been an influx of new members at the last couple of meetings, so I've ended up a with a fairly large pile of 24-minute comics to post, not all of them with names attached. These ones, from various assorted newbies, were inspired by "cats" and "finger puppets"...
(Jenny Coxon)
(unknown, incorporating "coffee" and "communist" from another selection)
(Lewis Garvey)

CELEBRITY DRUG SMUGGLER, SQUARE! (ANDREW WAUGH)
The very hairy Andy Waugh was given 24 minutes and the words 'Celebrity Drug Smuggler' and 'Square' to work with. This is what he did as a direct consequence of that.

Here's another 24 minute challenge, since those were the words out of the hat a few weeks (months?) back (and I've not scanned them in till now), we're investigating the life of the Joyous Anorexic. This one's by Britt!

LOGO JAM GO! (DISCUSSION)
So here's my offering to the Paper Jam Comics Collective Logo Jam - some type for comment/discussion or to amend or incorporate into other possible PJCC logo designs featuring jam jars, photocopiers, paper, etc...
The font is 'American Typewriter', customised a bit around the serifs and line thicknesses. I also tried putting 'comics collective' in other type or handwritten fonts, but in the end American Typewriter seems like a good font to me.
(amending post... more!)
Obviously, my jam jar is rubbish, and I think this should probably be hand drawn, but this is what i'd had in mind...

THINKING ABOUT 'MUSIC...AND THAT' (MIKE DUCKETT)
Hi, as the harder-working paper jammers spent 24 hours drawing this weekend, I had a pint at Drink & Draw and a first stab at an entry to the next anthology 'Music ... and that'.
However, I have since changed my mind and so withdrawn this pic, but will still do some response to a song by the casual terrorist

JOYOUS ANOREXIC (MIKE DUCKETT)
It's been a while since the Paper Jam Comics Collective got their act together on their fortnightly thursday meeting and made some 24 minute comics.
Mike D introduced us to the enchanted world of the "Joyous Anorexic", which were the first words out of the hat.
Check out Mike's blog here, and if you can find them, pick up a copy of his Bothy Zine and Secret History of Anarchy in Newcastle.

ANNOUNCEMENT: TUMBLE AND FALL TAKEOVER
Happy New Year!
For those who haven't been following the group's activities via our collective blogs, during December and early January the PJCC have been supplying 24-minute comics and the like for Dennis J Reinmüller's Tumble And Fall webcomic, while Dennis takes a hiatus to concentrate on his studies.
Our residency is now officially over, but for those missing our Paper Jams during these sparse months, take a look at them from here.
